Shockwave Therapy
When is it used:
For chronic muscle-tendon issues, for example
-
Achilles tendonitis
-
Plantar fasciitis
-
Tennis elbow
-
Golfers elbow
-
Shoulder pain
-
Patellar tendonitis
What to expect:
Shockwave therapy is typically a course of treatment that involves one session per week for approximately three to six weeks. The duration of the course is largely dependent on the type and severity of the injury.

How it works:
Radial shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic soundwaves that penetrates through the skin to treat chronic pain, muscle-tendon, and ligament issues. It is also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT).
-
After ultrasound gel is applied, a handheld device is then used to send shockwaves through the skin to the affected area
-
The shockwaves stimulate blood flow and break down scar tissue, which helps to speed up the body’s natural healing process
Shockwave therapy is effective as a stand-alone therapy; however, it is even more beneficial when combined with sports massage therapy to aid and speed up recovery.
